The University is included in the Single Audit for the State of Tennessee. The State of Tennessee does not qualify as a low-risk auditee under the provisions of 2 CFR 200.520 due to findings of State Agencies other than The University of Tennessee. The University of Tennessee had no questioned costs or material weaknesses included in the Single Audit for the State of Tennessee, and so is considered low risk. In the State’s audit of the university’s internal control for FY2021, the State auditors determined that the University did not provide an adequate internal control in one area for a different campus, which they considered to be a significant deficiency due to it being a repeat finding. The State recommended additional best practice steps to be taken in addition to the steps the University has taken to address the internal control inadequacy in the previous fiscal year.
